sorry it’s been a little quiet around here, but i have a new love and we’ve been spending a lot of time together, just the two of us. you know how it is when you’re infatuated… you just want to spend all your time with your new love, learn as much as you can about your new love, experiment in new places and positions…
woah, slow down there… i’m talking about a new lens!! you didn’t think this was becoming THAT kind of blog, did you?? . . . do they have blogs like that?! 😉
and it’s not really even a NEW lens because i’m just renting it for now (thanks, borrow lenses!) but it’s new to me in that i’ve never shot with it before…i had heard people talk about this lens and it was recommended to me by some photographer friends …when i upgraded my camera, my old lenses didn’t quite do the trick (i’m actually looking to sell them …feel free to email me if you’re interested:rachel@enframephotography.com) so i’ve been shooting with a 50mm 1.8, not being quite able to shell out the cash for other more hefty pieces of glass. but i have a few photo sessions coming up as well as a trip to NY and i’ve also started maxing out what i can do with the 50mm (it’s a fantastic lens, don’t get me wrong and i HIGHLY recommend using one if you haven’t. it’s great training…but that’s a whole other blog post) so i thought it was a good time to try out something new and more versatile.
i thought the best option was to try the 24-70 2.8 and oh.my.goodness, this lens is DREAMY. there is SO MUCH you can do with this lens since it goes from wide angle to a bit of a zoom as well as allows you to focus as close as 14.9 inches. it’s fast, sharp (even w/o VR) and gives beautiful, creamy backgrounds. there are so many uses for this beautiful lens. i’d love to show you some sample shots but i’ve been too busy taking pictures and haven’t processed any yet. i will hopefully have some to show you in the next few days or so.
i’m definitely going to start saving up for this lens because eventually my “fling” with this particular beauty will be over and i’ll have to return it…which will be a sad day. 🙁
if you feel like you want to help me earn some pennies, the picture above links to the lens on amazon. should you click through this link and purchase the lens (lucky you!) or anything else you might need (SD cards, camera batteries…socks, antacids…) i earn a small percentage on your purchase(s) without you spending an extra dime. thanks!
what’s your favorite lens to shoot with? maybe i’ll rent that one next!
