Photo sessions with large families and multi generation family sessions can sometimes be a challenge, but it’s hard to imagine a bigger privilege when it comes to being asked to capture family memories. And when you’ve known some of the people in the portraits for over 20 years (though haven’t seen them in almost as long,) it means a lot to be tasked with taking their family photos.
This family traveled from all across the United States to be together for the Thanksgiving holiday and we gathered together in the Grayhawk community of North Scottsdale for their family photo session highlighting four generations of love. There was a lot of fun and energy in the air that day and I admire the strong connections they all seem to have to one another. Also, they get MAJOR props for their outfit coordination.
The really special thing about photographing four generations of a family is that you get to see the past, present and future all at once; the roots and the wings . . .
