Since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, I’ve put together some ideas for an extra special Valentine’s Day celebration. I know Valentine’s Day is a somewhat silly, made-up “Hallmark holiday,” but I have to admit it is one of my favorites. I just love the idea of taking a little extra time to show others that you love them. Of course, we should be doing that throughout the year, but why not also set aside a special day? My mom always made Valentine’s Day extra special for our family and I love doing the same for our boys. I firmly believe that Valentine’s Day is not just for expressing romantic love, but love and appreciation for any of the special people in our lives and for things or people we might take for granted. It’s also a super-fun holiday to celebrate with kids! So with all that in mind, I’ve gathered up a WHOLE BUNCH of ideas for an extra special Valentine’s Day. From acts of kindness to thoughtful gifts and special treats, I’ve got you covered:

Leave “love notes” on your kids’ doors. . . This idea can start on Feb 1st and extend the Valentine’s Day love a little longer. Each night, post a “love note” on your child’s door – things you admire about them, things you appreciate about them, talents they have, favorite activities you like to do together or favorite memories, etc. . . Each day they get to wake up to a new love note and by the end, have 14 (or more if you wish) notes on their door to remind them of how special they are.
